This is a DC-only unit
It has no AC inverter, so it cannot run a household appliance with a normal plug. It is useful for USB and 12V devices only, and the planner excludes it from AC backup planning for that reason.
What DC-only means for backup power
The mains sockets in your home carry alternating current. A battery stores direct current. Turning one into the other is the job of an inverter, and a DC-only unit does not have one — so there is nowhere to plug in a lamp, a fridge, or anything else with a household plug.
What it does have is USB ports and a 12V output. That makes it genuinely useful for the loads people most want during an outage: phones, tablets, headlamps, a 12V fan, a CPAP that accepts a DC input directly (check with your supplier before relying on that). It is lighter and cheaper than an equivalent unit with an inverter, because the inverter is most of the cost and most of the weight.
It is the wrong tool if your list includes a refrigerator, lighting on house circuits, or anything with a motor. Our planner will not offer it for those loads, and its capacity figure should not be compared directly against an AC unit's: the two are not solving the same problem.
If you want AC output at this size, look at the AC-capable models on the power stations page, or use the finder with a minimum continuous-watts filter set above zero.
