Who makes this, and why it looks like this
VerifiedBackupPowerData is an independent reference for sizing home backup power. It is not run by, funded by, or affiliated with any manufacturer whose products it lists.
Why ranges instead of one number
Most backup power calculators return a single runtime figure. That figure is a choice someone made and did not show you. A refrigerator's energy use over a day varies several times over depending on the unit's age and efficiency, the temperature of the room, and how often the door opens.
So every number here is a range. The left end is the best case. The right end is what you should plan for. We always size on the right-hand number. It is a less satisfying answer than one number. It is the honest one.
How products get onto this site
No maker pays to appear here, and no maker can pay to rank higher. We add products that match a real choice a household faces: keeping the basics on, backup for a day, systems you can add batteries to, and the generator types that differ by fuel and by 120 volts versus 240 volts.
We read specs from the maker's own pages and manuals, and save the link and the date. We do not record a number that only appears in a store listing, a search result, or a review. We never copy a spec from a similar model. A missing number stays missing, and the page says so.
Currently 127 of 144 required evidence fields are captured across our documented cohort, with 13 needing confirmation and 4 not captured. Those numbers are on the site because hiding them would misrepresent how much we actually know.
What this site will not do
- Publish wiring instructions, or tell you your local code permits something.
- Claim a system will keep a home safe, or certify anything for medical use.
- Report a recall screen that found nothing as though it were a clearance.
- Rank a product whose safety or model identity is unresolved, whatever it would earn us.
- Hide the options it ruled out. Knowing what will not work is half the answer.
Corrections
If a specification here is wrong, or a manufacturer has published something that supersedes what we captured, tell us and we will fix it and re-date the source. Corrections are the cheapest thing we can do and the most valuable. Get in touch.
